Though my baby retired at the age of 9 years old from racing, he still is going strong! He has started a new career of Dock Dog jumping! He has attended many local events as a Veteran, often being the oldest dog jumping. He achieved his Junior Jumper Title in 2012 and was honored to be invited to the World Championship Dock Dog event in Dubuque, Iowa. Worlds was a blast for my baby boy Irish, he thought everyone from the airport to the World event was there to see him! People at the car rental place, airport and around Dubuque were drawn to him, asking questions and taking his photo. He was a star and we had a great weekend. (Not to mention, our traveling companion, Cochiti the world record holder took 2nd at Worlds!)
For his 11th birthday, he was out jumping 10' 6" and getting his Junior Jumper Dock Dog Title!
Irish ran in 32 trials in his long career, winning 12 first placements, 4 at ASFA's International Invitational and 6 Best of Breeds, one at the International Invitational. One of my most thrilling moments as a breeder/owner. Running competitively until he was 8 years old, Irish only was out of the placements 4 times. Irish takes my breath away when he lure courses, his long stride and graceful movement are wonderful to watch. Irish is 9 now, and though it kills me and him, he is retired from Lure coursing. He is still my baby boy.
April 2007: Irish went to the AWC National in Kansas where he was second in his flight at the lure course!
2003 ASFA II - BOB (100+ whippets), 2003 NOTRA National Top 10, 2004 ASFA II flight winner, 2004-2005 NOFCA whippet Top 10, 2005 Grand Course Top 10, Multiple NOTRA meet winner, 12.5 NOTRA National Points, #3 lifetime OTR whippet, earned his FCh in 3 trials and his LCM in 11 trials, only taking anything less than 2nd place twice.
